BRAD & SHAWN BALDWIN
Brad and Shawn are a husband-and-wife entrepreneur team that have lived in Auburn since 2007. Having met while in college at Chico State, the two quickly fell in love with their passion for art at the center of their relationship. The Auburn community has embraced the Baldwins as they have served in various leadership roles throughout the years, while raising their two children.
The couple purchased Sierra Moon in 2018, fulfilling their dream to own a business in Auburn. With an Art History degree and experience selling real estate in Placer County, Shawn had previously served as the Store Manager under previous owners, John Lynch and Linda Pierce. It was during that time Shawn’s lifelong passion for jewelry exploded. “What we offer at Sierra Moon is so much more than just a warm and welcoming shopping experience. I love seeing that look in our clients’ eyes when they realize that we can truly create anything through our custom design services. I mean, that’s exciting!”
Shawn is the Creative Director of Sierra Moon while Brad holds the reigns to the Production department as a goldsmith. While at Chico State Brad received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Product Design. Gaining a strong background in Manufacturing and Graphic Gesign, his particular area of study introduced him to the art of glassblowing. It was clearly the perfect match, as Brad moved into blowing glass for over 15 years before he came to Sierra Moon. “It still shocks me what a perfect transition it really was for me to move from glassblowing into goldsmithing. There are so many of the same tools involved and the flow of production had me right at home.” A unique fit for sure!
Arriving at the nearly 20-year mark of their time in Auburn, Brad and Shawn have served a number of community roles. Both are alumni of Leadership Auburn, a 9-month long program run by the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. Brad is currently serving his second term as the President of the Old Town Auburn Business Association, having previously served as the Vice President and Treasurer. (Stay tuned! There are some big things coming to Old Town!) Shawn stays close to her heart and maintains a leadership role for the Auburn Robalos Swim Team. Together the Baldwins bring artistry and a strong business acumen to a business and community they know and love!
